What is your daily classroom “compass” or Lesson Plan?

What guides you, your students and your classroom activities?

Do you want to make a bigger difference through your teaching in the lives of students?

Do you want your students to continue to make a difference for years to come?

Do we want students that are proficient in stewardship of the Earth and Nature’s Systems?

Do we want students that are leaders and understand the importance of leadership skills?

Do we want all our students to work well with others and students who are proficient in teamwork?

Do we want students that understand how to work in coalitions to solve key challenges that we all face in the 21st Century?

If you answered YES to these questions, then these are the Lesson Plans, Workbooks, Study Guides, Activities, Training Video and Curriculum for you, your students and your classroom!

These Lesson Plans and other materials were developed after decades of applied learning and teaching in public education!  My focus has always been on Nature Based Teaching and Learning, Stewardship, Leadership and Team-Building for Students, Faculty and our Communities.  These are critical skills for every student on this great planet!  These skills are taught and practiced through Lesson Plans, study guides, class activities, team activities, team assessment, team projects and team presentations.

My Nature Based Teaching Guidelines for each Earth Lesson includes:

  • Inclusion of all students in all activities
  • All lessons learned and practiced in Teams
  • Teams are taught skill building principles
  • No competition!  Only cooperation is modeled and practiced each day!
  • As important as each topic is the students’ skill-building activities in teamwork, leadership and stewardship
  • Stewardship of the Earth’s Natural Resources: Nature’s Systems including the Water Cycle, Earth’s Troposphere (the Greenhouse Effect) and Climate Regulation, Natural Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecosystems (like the Earth’s Ocean, Tropical Forests, Temperate Forests and more)!
  • Integrating subjects across the curriculum into each Lesson from Nature also called “Sustainability Across the Curriculum”

It will take an incredible amount of patience, stewardship ideals, leadership goals, teamwork approach, cooperation and inclusion of all to address the challenges that we, our students, communities and human society face in the 21st Century!  My experience has always been that once students learn about the beauty of Nature and the Natural Systems that support them and all Life on Earth as well as the challenges we face, they are engaged and ready to meet the challenge!  Let the Lessons begin today!

This Nature Based Teaching website uses “Nature as our Guide”!  What is Nature and how do we teach about Nature and Nature’s Systems?  Nature is those natural processes and systems that support you, I, our families, our students, our communities and all Life on Earth!  Nature provides all the goods, services, and natural process that sustain us all!  Goods would be food, water, clothing, materials to build our homes and infrastructure and more!  The services provided by Nature are often referred to as Ecosystem Services such as Photosynthesis, Pollination, Recycling of matter, Soil production, the Water Cycle and much more!

Add to your incredible teaching and leadership skills by incorporating “Nature Based Teaching and Learning” into your classroom every day!  Enhance student learning, attention, joy and confidence by engaging students every day in the study of Nature and Nature’s Systems!  You can bring Nature inside your classroom and incorporate into your Lesson Plans each and every day!  And you can take your students outside the classroom each day on your campus to learn more about What’s Outside including Water, Air, Soil, Species, Ecosystems, Energy and Minerals!  Students need this connection to Nature, each other and the Earth!
